Ruaha National Park
Lying in the remote region of the park with the Great Ruaha River running alongside, the Flycatcher Ruaha Camp offers you the prefect location for a memorable stay. All spacious and comfortable guest tents and the open dining tent are placed to have wonderful views, allowing you to observe the movement of animals between the savannah and the riverbed: elephants, giraffes, zebras, baboons, impalas, waterbucks …
On undisturbed game drives between the Miombo woodlands, the baobab trees and the rivers «Ruaha» and «Mwagusi», you can come across prides of lions, families of lesser and greater kudu, big herds of buffalo, a lone leopard, a pack of African hunting dogs, hippos and crocodiles on river islands and many more. With over 450 bird species, Ruaha is also a very interesting park for bird lovers.
Season
Flycatcher Ruaha Camp is open from July to February.
Location
The camp is situated in Ruaha National Park east of the Ruaha River within sight of the river landscape, about 25 km from Msembe and 12 km from the park entrance gate Y-Junction.
The nearest airstrip is Msembe (distance 25 km, about 45 minutes’ drive).

Game drives
The camp is ideally situated for game drives in various directions: downstream along the east bank towards Chaugigima or along the west bank towards Lunda, upstream to Ruaha Bridge and the viewpoints, west around Kilimatonge Hill or north to Mwagusi River and the confluence of Ruaha River and Mwagusi River.
Camp
- 1 large dining and lounge tent with thatched roof in the centre of the camp
- 5 guest tents with thatched roofs (4 tents with each two single beds and 1 tent with one double bed, three-bed tents are available).
All tents offer wonderful views and allow to observe the movements of the animals between the savannah behind and the riverbed in front of the camp: elephants, impalas, giraffes, zebras, waterbucks, kudus, baboons, hornbills, doves, guineafowls, kingfishers, African fish eagles and many more.
Dining and lounge tent
All meals are served in the dining tent, which has large mesh windows on all sides offering a great view towards the river and its surroundings.
Experienced cooks serve excellent meals with a good variety of fresh food products. All meals are served in buffet style.
Drinks such as coffee and tea are available free of charge. Bottled mineral water, soft drinks, beer, wine and spirits are on offer.
A multi-plug charging station is available.
The lighting in the tent is solar-powered.
In the evening, the campfire in front of the tent is an inviting place to watch the setting sun in the land of the baobabs.
Guest tents
Spacious and comfortable thatched tents with large mesh windows on all sides that can be closed as required.
En-suite bathroom with shower and washbasin with running water and flush toilet. Hot water is provided by a solar water heater and flows at all times.
Comfortable beds with Nordic bed linen, wooden wardrobes and luggage racks.
The lighting in the tents is solar-powered.
Safari chairs in front of the tents invite to relax and observe.
