Private Camps

Private Camp

All our guests are of the same opinion: to stay in one of our tented camps is a major attraction on a safari. You will appreciate the individual atmosphere! There is no doubt that being in the quietude of a small camp on a safari is preferable to the uniform environment of a busy hotel which lack the background sounds of natural surroundings.

Your stay in our camps

Private CampA tented camp does not require an extreme desire for adventure nor does it require a test of endurance. You can also be assured that camping in the African bush does not entail any special risks. In our camps you can concentrate fully on the unusual and fascinating surroundings, but you do not have to give up on comfort. Once you have had this experience, you will not want to miss it again.

Tents

The spacious and comfortable Manyara tents (five in each camp) have an «en suite» private bathroom with a flush toilet and a shower. In front there is a small «terrace» with safari chairs. They are equipped with wooden beds with Nordic bedding, bedside shelves, a table, a luggage rack and electric lights (from solar panels). Towels are available.

Meals

All meals are served in the big dining tent (dining banda in Mahale). In all camps our experienced cooks serve excellent meals with a good variety of fresh fruit and vegetables flown in from Arusha. Meat is stored in solar powered deep-freezers. You will be surprised at what a meal tastes like, cooked on a charcoal fire in the bush! In our camps the driver-guides eat together with the clients in the dining tent.

Drinks

In our camps soft drinks, mineral water, beer, wine and spirits are available. Drinks can be paid cash either in USD or in Tanzania shilling upon departure. Coffee, tea and drinking water are free of charge.

Private Camp

Exclusive locations

Private CampAll our camps are put up on special campsites which have to be booked long time in advance. These places are pristine and may only be used by the tour operator that booked the site. The concession fees that have to be paid per person per night to the national parks are high. But in return our clients enjoy pure naturalness and privacy.

Serengeti National Park

The camp is situated in Bologonja (North Serengeti). As there is always water present the big herds retreat there in the dry season. And of course, where you can find hoofed animals, you can also find predators! The area is very different from the grassy plains in the south. In addition there are many species that live here permanently.

Mahale Mountains National Park

The camp is located on a scenically lovely spot on the shores of Lake Tanganyika. The transfers by boat from/to the airstrip take approximately 45 minutes per way.
All tents have a shady makuti roof and offer a lake view and direct access to the sandy shore. The dining banda, which is built from bamboo and also thatched with makuti, is open to all sides.

Katavi National Park

The comfortable camp is placed at a most beautiful spot next to the airstrip. All tents and the big dining tent (open on three sides with a wonderful view) are overlooking the Katisunga Plains, which is characterized by its groundwater flows and abundant game.

Ruaha National Park

The Ruaha Camp is located close to the Great Ruaha River. Even in the dryest season the river provides a species-rich habitat for many animals. Here between Miombo woodlands and baobab trees you can enjoy undisturbed game drives and also spot rarer species like the lesser and greater kudu, the roan antelope, the sable antelope and the African wild dogs.
